Rostec’s Russian Helicopters Holding presented the import-substituted Ansat helicopter at Dubai Airshow 2025. This marked the first international presentation of the aircraft produced by Kazan Helicopter Plant (KVZ). The aircraft is showcased in a medical evacuation version, clearly demonstrating its capabilities for medical applications.
The light multipurpose Ansat helicopter is presented with Russian VK-650V engines manufactured by United Engine Corporation of Rostec. On September 2, 2025, the fully import-substituted aircraft completed its maiden flight. In addition to the engine substitution, all foreign components were replaced, including elements of the control system and autopilot. The Ansat-M received a full set of domestically produced onboard equipment and a new Russian system for starting and generating direct current. The airframe design was modified, with increased use of composite materials improving its weight characteristics.
«The import-substituted Ansat helicopter is currently undergoing preliminary testing, system tuning, and preparation for certification trials. Among the advantages of the updated aircraft are the capability for instrument flight, a modern autopilot, and improved directional stability. Furthermore, the flight range has been extended to 660 km, and with an additional fuel tank installed, up to 800 km, which is relevant for operators in various regions of our country,» noted Nikolai Kolesov, CEO of Russian Helicopters.
At Dubai Airshow 2025, the Ansat is exhibited in a medical version equipped with a module for transporting patients. Thanks to the design, a patient can be transported by a single medical worker without disconnecting life support equipment. The onboard equipment, including a defibrillator, allows all necessary resuscitation procedures to be performed during flight.
Additional equipment includes an infection isolation box certified for use onboard the Ansat. This specialized box is intended for transporting patients infected with highly dangerous infections such as COVID-19, Ebola fever, and others, or for transporting casualties from contaminated zones to medical facilities.
The Ansat stands out for its spacious cabin, high maneuverability, and ease of maintenance. The aircraft can be operated at temperatures up to +50°C and perform flights at altitudes up to 3500 meters. Currently, more than 140 Ansat helicpters are operated by various air carriers, accumulating over 150,000 flight hours in aggregate.
