"Russian Helicopters" has overhauled six Mi-17-1V of Peruvian Air Force
"Russian Helicopters" Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) has overhauled six Mi-17-1V military transport helicopters at Lima Peruvian Air Force base SEMAN in two years.
Maintenance work was carried out by the Novosibirsk Aircraft Repair Plant (NARP), part of "Russian Helicopters" Holding, under the direct supervision of NHC Mil and Kamov – the "Mi" helicopter brand developer. As a result, the Peruvian helicopters now have a service life of 8 years and an overhaul interval of 2,000 hours.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Republic of Peru is actively exploiting previously supplied Russian helicopters. Aircraft are deployed for various tasks: transportation, search and rescue in areas affected by natural disasters as well as humanitarian purposes, such as delivery of medicine, food, clothing and fight against drug trafficking.
"Since Soviet times, Russian helicopter technology has proven itself in Peru – the USSR was one of the first to help Peruvian side after the earthquake in 1970. Then, we provided Peru with Mi-8 helicopters in medical version as humanitarian aid. Today there are over a hundred Russian-made helicopters in operation in the country, so we attach particular importance to their repair and modernization. I believe that the work we have done once again demonstrates high level of our customer's trust," said Andrey Boginsky, CEO of Russian Helicopters.
Due to their reliability, versatility and ease of maintenance, the multi-purpose Mi-8/17 series helicopters are recognized and sought after worldwide. Mi-8/17 family design and equipment allow operating under self-contained basing on unequipped sites in almost all climatic conditions, including high altitude areas and hot climate, which is proved by long experience of using these aircraft on different continents.
Novosibirsk Aircraft Repair Plant undertakes maintenance, overhaul and modernization of Mi helicopters in various modifications. The company repairs helicopter systems and units during the entire life between overhaul, as well as provides users with spare parts. NARP also offers worldwide service with the ability to perform customer-based refurbishment work.
